    SAT Score Validity:

While the College Board itself doesn't impose an expiration date, colleges have the discretion to set their preferences for score validity. This creates a two-tier system:

    • Generally Accepted Range (Up to 5 Years): Many colleges consider SAT scores valid for up to 5 years after your test date. This applies to a large portion of institutions, offering some flexibility for students who took the test earlier in high school.
    • Selective College Preferences (1-2 Years): Highly competitive colleges often prefer applicants with scores within the past 1-2 years. Their rationale is that recent scores provide a more accurate picture of a student's current abilities and readiness for college-level coursework.
