Exam Pattern

Exam pattern of TOEFL: The TOEFL exam pattern has been divided into four sections, namely, Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing - along with the total score. It goes without saying that the more you practice TOEFL sample papers, the better your scores will be. Each section has a score range of 0-30, for a total score range of 0-120. Scores will be posted online six days after the test date. ETS will send up to four official score reports directly to the institutions the student selects.

TOEFL Reading Pattern

Duration of the test is 35 minutes 20 Questions each from passages 3 – 4 reading passages as prompts.

TOEFL Listening Pattern

Duration of the test is 36 minutes Questions 28 (lectures or classroom discussions).

TOEFL Speaking Pattern

Duration of the test is 36 minutes Questions: 4 tasks (one independent and 3 integrated questions).

TOEFL Writing Pattern

Duration of the test is 29 minutes Questions: 2 tasks (one independent and another one integrated question).
