If you plan to study in Canada you have to apply for a Study Visa. International students have to obtain a student visa and study permit before entering Canada.
What is a Study Visa?
A Canada Study Visa is an official document or a stamp issued on your passport which permits you to enter Canada. Having a study visa is not enough to gain entry into Canada.
A Canada university has the option of part-time work for students. Students can work 10 hours per week during semesters. During the semester break, a student who has applied for a full-time program can work for 20 hours a week. Off-campus jobs include waiters, data entry jobs, etc

What is a Study Permit?
Students have to obtain a Study Permit in order to secure their stay and study in Canada. A study permit is issued by the Citizen and Immigration (CIC) and it gives you permission to study in Canada for as long as your course duration demands.
What is an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)?
After receiving your study permit, you will also get an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) issued by the Canadian High Commission. The eTA allows you to enter Canada while a study permit allows you to study in Canada.
