    International students with a residence permit can work in the Netherlands, provided it is related to their course. Students can work 25 hours a week during the program and full-time during vacation breaks.

    Netherlands Student Visa Requirements

    You will need a Provisional Residence Permit (MVV) – an entry visa (or provisional residence permit) for long-term and short-term study courses.

    If you stay in the country for over three months, you must apply for a residence permit (VVR) apart from your entry visa. This is like a study visa that permits you to stay for your course. It can be extended if required for an additional three months.

    Netherlands universities offer an extensive range of English-taught programs. Students are required to clear the IELTS with a score of 6.0 or any other English language proficiency test. For Dutch-taught courses, English language proficiency certification is not required.

    Netherlands short-stay student visa: For course/training less than three months.

    Netherlands student visa for secondary and vocational courses: This is a special student visa type issued for students seeking to pursue from Indonesia, Suriname, or South Africa. Students applying for this visa must be able to speak and write Dutch. They must have their family members in Netherlands.

    Netherlands long-stay student visa: A long-stay visa is a student residence permit, issued up to 5 years.

    2 Types of Netherlands student visas are available based on the duration of the course.

    Short-stay visa or a Schengen visa: For course duration less than 90 days.

    VVR or MVV and a residence permit: The MVV is a short-term visa. It is extended as a VVR residence permit for long-term courses of more than 90 days. 

    Students are allowed to work part-time while studying. They are permitted to work 16 hours a week. Students can work full-time during the summer vacation in June, July, and August.

    Netherlands resident permit issued for students who completed 5-years of uninterrupted stay after their study. After completing your studies, you must stay on a work permit in Netherlands for five consequent years. Then, only you are eligible to apply for the Netherlands residence permit.
